JNR is open to all visitors with an interest in nature, walking, hiking, photography, birdwatching and those who would are looking for a place of scenic beauty away from the traffic, hustle and bustle of Mussoorie. We encourage small groups of 1-5 people to allow everyone to have a good experience and request visitors to follow the code of conduct printed on the entry ticket or your map/guide and to respect instructions of the guides. If you prefer to enjoy loud music, alcohol, adventure sports and picnics in large groups, then JNR is not the place for you, as you will only be disappointed!
In order to manage the numbers and in the interest of people visiting, we do not generally accept walk-in visitors at the gate. So please see the sections on Single Day Entry and Membership to learn more. You can spend anything from an hour to a full day in the Reserve but most visitors usually spend about 3-4 hours.
Please carry your own food and water if you intend to spend more than 2-3 hours in the Reserve as the nearest shops are 200-500 metres from the gate. There is a restroom available on the site, but you will need to get the keys from the local guide or caretaker. If you carry your own food, please do not leave leftovers behind and take your trash back out with you or use one of the bins provided.
